  26. No he isn't, and I should have clarified that I was assuming he was
  27. referring to a non-binary newsgroup such as this. Like a lot of
  28. folks, I dl this stuff automaticly (with thor).  Having such a
  29. message in any of the newsgroups I frequent would be flamed heartily
  30. by nearly all, not just me.

  32. In a binary group, or in email, such goings on are the rule.  This is
  33. neither a binary group nor email.  I am presently in correspondence
  34. with a gent in NZ who is netting to the rest of the world on a std
  35. line with a 2400 baud modem.  A 200k .gif most certainly would not be
  36. looked upon with favor at his location, even if it was Cindy Crawford
  37. in her birthday suit! I thought twice before sending him a 6k file
  38. that might fix his problems.  Thats called consideration.

  40. In short, these newsgroups do go all over the world, in some cases to
  41. locations where that included .gif would cost the recipient several
  42. dollars US to get. Again, if this was a binary group, I'd be way the
  43. hell outta line. This is not a binary group. And thats as close to a
  44. retraction as you'll get.
